Audience: Family Nurse Practitioner Students attending the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York.

Goal: Increase clinical competence, attitude, and skills in providing care for transgender people.

Problem: Transgender people experience healthcare disparities, and many institutions still lack an appropriate curriculum for advanced nursing students.

Solution: Create and facilitate a 3-hour educational session combining lecture content with actor-led standardized patient simulations.

Results: There was a 30% increase in the Sexual Orientation Counselor Competence score, reflecting improved clinical competence, attitude, and skills towards transgender people.
